Herb Planter workshop 2022

Do you like fresh herbs? Having herbs growing near your kitchen can make your salads and cooking more enjoyable. In this workshop you will make a low maintenance (wicking bed) mini herb garden from repurposed materials.
Bring the container you want to plant in, and an old, raggy natural fibre item (eg t-shirt, tea towel, bath towel or bag made of cotton or linen or jute) to become the wick helping the water move from the bottom of the container and up into the soil. Make sure the fabric is large enough to cover the base and come part way up the sides of your container.

We will provide the materials to make your own potting mix, and a selection of advanced herb seedlings. Your ticket purchase covers up to 10 advanced seedlings. Additional seedlings may be available for cash purchase on the day.
Wear a hat and weather-appropriate clothing such as long sleeves (or sunscreen) and closed-in shoes.
*Your container needs to be able to be punctured part way up to allow overflow of excess water. Something with water holding capacity at the bottom would be perfect for the job. We suggest reusing an old washing basket (lined at the bottom with a plastic bag) or re-use a foam box (fruit and veg shops get broccoli in them, and might let you have them free or for low cost)

Tool Maintenance Workshop

Register for this event on Humanitix. https://events.humanitix.com/tools-maintenance-workshop
DEG members free. Everyone else $5
Learn how to sharpen and maintain your tools. Bring your own tools and take them home ready to work so much better. Also bring any tools you don’t want.  We might use them at DEG or sell them to others who will use them. You could take home a treasure someone else has brought. Tony Justin and Jim will help us bring them to a new lease of life.

Bring some cash just in case a preloved refurbished item  needs to go home with you, or to buy some of Kath’s preserves.

Then chat with us over a bring-and-share morning tea and join us in some other gardening.  DEG days run from about 8 to about 12 depending on the weather. You are welcome to join us this week or any DEG day See the 2022 events calendar for details 2022-3-fold-calendar-DEG-Days.pdf (duncraigediblegarden.org.au)
